Loved this new video that introduces LibreOffice in an easy and understandable way.
[youtube http://youtu.be/sloEMUt7n5Q]It would be great to have some more LibreOffice videos like this and I know there are folk reading this who could make them – how about it?

They (Libreoffice) forgot one platform. Solaris. I’ve been following Apache Openoffice, their getting close to their 3.4 release, and have development snapshots for Solaris X86 and Sparc (along with all other platforms also). So I’m following them much more closely now. I have also been able to compile it myself, so I don’t know what the real problem is they have. Any way, competition is good, especially for Microsoft.
I’ve checked in with the core developers and they tell me that a Solaris build is entirely feasible, but there’s no-one in the current core team with the bandwidth to do it and (so far) no new volunteers. If you know anyone who would be willing to commit to build, test and release on Solaris there would be no opposition to re-instating a build (presumably for Illumos now?)
